Poetry: Where do I start?

White pages scream silently

Glaring white, lifeless, blank

Where do I start?

Feelings overwhelming, wanting, reaching,

Searching for . . .

Oh where do I start?

Coffee, more coffee as I stare

Trying to pull something from thin air

Where do I start?

Words, just simple words

That's all I ask

It shouldn't be such a task

Where do I start?

Did Keats, Shelly, Mitchell and Twain

Stare at blank pages and suffer the same?

Where do I start?

I have to write, I need the rush

To fill blank pages . . . . but wait

Coffee kicked in, the time is here

When everything is suddenly clear

Fingers punch computer keys

Words rush forth, eager, surging filling

Joy, euphoria, grips me, capturing me willing

The writer's opiate, the best addiction,

But tomorrow will see

A new blank page in front of me

Where do I start?
