Poetry: I thank God

by Cody Harrison

When i'm on a long road heading back the same direction i headed before or giving all i have to help a friend along the way.Taking chances i knew i would lose or thinking about me a little more then i think about you.

I thank god i'm still around to say i love you too

Those memories stick in my head how you change me to be more me

And how you made me feel when i was numb

when i was passing those in a crowd you made me free

and the things i did that were dumb

you forgave me

I take a giant leap over a canyon if you didn't give me more reason to stick around

or deaf now i hear the sound

traffic cars honking there horns flashing there lights you wave your signs and i walk on by

or when my bladder was full you help me pee

on a curb i yelled thank you god and thats no lie

On my way i go i go

sometimes fast or sometimes slow

Theres my way here's my path this must be the way

a man who dressed in rags holding a gun and asking me to give all i got and this i pray

Up a mountain down those hills and over the corner in those streets back to the home front i jump yipee

Where i stay and say i thank god i don't have to do that again
