How does Twilight the movie compare to the book series?

Twilight has been a part of my life since I finally decided to find out what the fuss was about! That was almost over a year ago. I first became aware of the series when I first saw the teaser for the first movie two springs ago. From that moment on, I was intrigued and wanted to know if the series could fill the void left by the ending of the Harry Potter series! Just to be clear, I'm not a big fan of fantasy, so any story with fantastical creatures would have to be realistic and believable in some way in order for me to be interested. Once I started reading Twilight, I was hooked! I related to the series because though my boyfriend might not be perfect, I was constantly reminded of him while reading the series, and, while I'm embarrassed to admit it, I was reminded of myself while reading how clumsy, shy, and selfless the main character is. (I too, have been in a near-death accident where I was nearly pinned by a car. The difference was that I kind of saved myself by reacting quickly!)When the first movie was released, I kind of desperately wanted to know if it did the book justice and how it would be received by audiences.

I was disappointed. Another reason why I liked the book was because of how charming the exchange between Edward and Bella was before the truth was revealed. That charm was missing, along with other elements, from the movie. The movie did well regardless, but true "twi-hards", along with me, find it a failure mainly because it would've been a better movie had it the certain elements that were missing from the book. The movie also wasn't completely true to the book. Bella mostly cooked and did the laundry for her dad as opposed to going to the diner almost every day. The director and screenwriter are also at fault, and I was relieved to find out that she was replaced. I have hope that the sequel will be a bit better. When I saw the preview for the sequel, I wished that the first Twilight movie would get a "do-over"!

I think the production team learned from their mistakes, and while I fear that some mistakes weren't totally rectified, I have faith that the sequel will be a better movie than it's predecessor. I'll be a little surprised if it turns out to be another favorite movie of mine! If the soundtrack to the sequel is any indication, then there is no need to worry!
