You were like a sister to me
Always loving,
Always caring,
And ever understanding!
You hated the sound of her name,
The sound of her voice pierced your ear drums
Like a dog's ear responds to high-frequency
Now I am married to her;
And all you have to say
Is that I am a fool
And that you have nothing to say to me
I turn away in shame
Because of the fact
That you have disowned me
As a friend
As I smoke a cigarette
And reflect all the more about it,
The more the betrayal
Forsakes me
Like God to the dead Christ
