WILL A MAN ROB GOD ?
If there are bible books, and chapters visited and quoted more often than others, it is this last piece in the old testament ,from minor prophet Malachi and the popular chapter three, where a very interesting argument boils from verse six to verses 12.
" Will a man rob God?, yet you have robbed me. But you say, where in have we robbed thee ? In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse for you have robbed me , even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the store house, that there may be meat in my house and prove me herewith said the Lord, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it
and I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes and he shall not detroy the fruits of your ground ,neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field.,saith the Lord and all nations shall call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land, said the Lord of host"
You might be saying this warning was or is the the nation of ISRAEL,but be it known unto you today that a Christian who is robbing God or who robs God is altogether likely to be guilty of other crimes, if he or she could boldly rob the almighty God himself. The believer's inability to pay his or her tithe as and when due is an indication of spiritual decay, probably a tip on the ice berg. More serious spiritual problems follows this weakness.
Malachi three, verses 6-12 is well understood, as it deals specifically with tithe and tithing. The Hebrew word used in Malachi 3 is" qaba" meaning,to cover, defraud, rob or spoil,The word qaba , which has deep meaning ,shows how serious God views the issue.
God means what He said in this chapter,He is not experimenting tithing,His principle concerning the issue does not change, for He is the Lord He changeth not., despite the blatant refusal of the nation of Israel and nations of today ie Christian communities to honour this call, His blessings still touches both the payers and the invaders. What He laid down for the fathers as a channel of blessing, He does not want the children to miss.. Hebrews 13; 20, Isaiah 54:!0, 55;3. The financial needs of the body of Christ is nourished through tithes and offerings .
Just like ancient Israel developed stiff neck to the issue, Christians of today have failed. They are not serious with the ancient covenant "Even from the days of your fathers, ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them " Malachi 3:7.
