Data entry and copywriting are two of the most popular choices for working online and work-at-home jobs. Which job to choose is entirely a personal decision, but it is important to know both the advantages and disadvantages of data entry jobs and copywriting jobs.

* Data entry

Keyboard skills are necessary for data entry work. You need to be a fast and accurate touch typist. Your earnings will be less if you take a long time to type in the data, and if you keep making mistakes you will not be offered many jobs.

Good data entry sites are not easy to find, but you might find some transcription work through freelance job sites. You will not find genuine data entry jobs from ads for data entry sites that require you to pay a fee for information or membership.

Many data entry sites pay commission only when your ads bring in new recruits who pay to join the program. Your ads will be competing against many others offering the same type of data entry work. You could spend hours every day submitting ads and never received any payment.

Writing skills are needed for copywriting. You must know how to create strong headlines and powerful bullet points. You should be prepared to produce successful sales letters, compelling website content and marketing material.You will be required to write articles that promote products and sell services.

Good copywriting jobs are not difficult to find because copywriters are always in demand. Copywriting jobs are often listed at freelance job sites and offered in webmaster forums. You can promote your own copywriting service if you create your own website or start a business blog. Then you will need to do some active networking and online article marketing.

* Free resources

There is no need to pay for a course or take expensive tuition if you search for useful information online. An Internet search should provide you with many informative articles on the writing process, and on the art of copywriting. You can get free typing software to improve your typing skills, and use online tools to increase your typing speed.

By networking with writers in forums, and posting on writing community message boards, you should soon discover which are the most reliable sites for genuine jobs in data entry or copywriting opportunities.

Whichever online job you choose to do, data entry or copywriting, be sure you have the necessary skills to earn money working from home. Choose the option that will be most profitable for you, and that matches your own skills.
