Why the passing of time seems to accelerate as we age

Why the passing of time seems to accelerate as we age.

Time does fly when we are having fun. When we are children and we are enjoying playing with our friends, we do not want that enjoyment to pass. At this age, time is already passing us by, but it is not so noticeable. As we get older time seems to go by so much quicker. There is not enough time in the day to get everything done, before we know it the next day has begun.

The busier our lives are the faster time goes by. Society has become so rushed and pressured. We wake up in the morning, get the kids ready for school, rush to get lunches ready, drop children off at school, and go to work. Once we are at work, there is so much to do, phones ringing, meetings, do the job you are paid to do, oh dear it is then time to collect children from school again and take them for ballet or swimming lessons. You then have to get back to work again. At the end of your day you are on your way home from work, you remember that you need to get to the shops so that you can get the ingredients for dinner, collect children and go home. No time to rest, start preparing dinner, get children bathed and eat dinner. Phew, it is time to get the children off to bed; you can finally have a moment to relax. However by this stage you are so exhausted that you just flake out on the couch and it is past 10pm, so you to go to bed. You just close your eyes and the alarm buzzes, it is time to get up again and start the whole procedure again.

As we get older our lives become busier and our responsibilities increase, especially if we have children. The busier one is the quicker time will pass. Everything is based on time, as there is so much to do in so little time. You have to get the children to school by a certain time. You need to start work by a certain time, you have a particular time limit to complete required tasks, you have deadlines to meet. You are always expected to do more and more in the same amount of time.

We really need to take a step back and slow down, take a look at the things we are missing out on. We say that our children grow up so fast, but it is because we are all so busy living our lives that we are missing those magic steps that our children take as they grow up. Time stands still for no man.
