Eating healthy is a way of life.
You are what you eat, as stated by Anthelme Brillat-Savarin in his work Physiologie du Gout "Dis-moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que tu es." You are what you eat is simply my translation of the preceding quote. As they say, you are as young as you look. Age cannot be used to determine how one should be aging; it can only tell how long one has been on this earth.
To determine how one has aged, we must look at the many processes that have caused a person to age. Aging has more to do with life style than it has to do with food, it is the accumulation of changes in someone heath over time that will dictates how one has aged. However, good nutritious food does play a big role in aging.
Whereas food is eating for survival, good nutritious food is eating to maintain health. And because of that, maintaining youth is partly related with what ones eat. Therefore, If you eat garbage you'll become garbage, is simply an expression, but the truth remains, what you put in your body does affect your genetic makeup.
On July 17 2002 Sean Poulter, a consumer Affairs Correspondent in UK wrote " EATING GMO food can change the genetic make-up of your digestive system and could put you at risk of infections that are resistant to antibiotics." And to support Sean Poulter findings, the documentary, food matters by James Colquhoun indicated that the soil where our food is cultivated is missing some important minerals and nutrients. And it is because of those missing nutrients which have caused the soil to be deficient that has attracted this tremendous cost in health care. Apparently, this deficiency has in turn weakened our immune system, leaving us vulnerable to even a simple cold.....why? - Because we are what we eat. And to strengthen our immune system, we must counter play those deficiencies by detox and eat foods that are nutritiously healthy.
On May 11, 2004, Monsanto, the chemical giant responsible for more than 91 percent of all GE crops in the world, announced that it would suspend further development of their genetically engineered wheat. This was a victory that resulted from protest all over the world against genetically modified food. As you can see, it is only when we choose not to participate that the reverse of progress is possible. Thanks to the Internet, we are far more informed than our predecessors, however, it is our determination to act on the information obtained that can redirect the reverse of progress.
Now, to answer the question can food be the answer to finding the fountain of youth? - one must understand that the fountain of youth cannot be found if as a society we do nothing to discontinue the incentive to produce GMO foods. In another note, what significant is it to you, if we tell you what you should eat when you have no access to them? It would seem that the first solution would be, to work together as a society to get rid of genetically engineer food. But to get rid of GMO foods, we must have alternatives to replaced them with organically grown produce.
We can use some of the stimulus money to cultivate organic produce. As it is right now, in this country there is a great demand for organic produce. Many Americans have realized organically grown foods are more beneficial in nutrients than process food. As a result, they're making all sort of sacrifice to access those organic foods so that they can be proud of whom they are, because If you are what you eat, than what you're not is what you don't eat.
You see, the main important point here is that we all eat, but what is different is that we don't all eat the same things. So in that sense, the emphasis should really be placed on what we don't eat as opposed to what we eat. Since some foods have no health benefits, eating them will not make a person feel any better. However, nutritious foods on the other hand help maintain health, so because of that, we say what you don't eat is more important than what you eat if as a conscious person, you don't take the necessary steps to eat the foods that are enriched in nutrients.
We can also add that since most of us are not eating vegetables or organic foods, than what we're not is "healthy", because to be healthy would require of us to monitor our nutritional balance. But how can we do that if as people we're not conscious of this imbalance. To be conscious would require our educational institutions to informed our children from the time they're able to comprehend - is this not a possibility? Children have a greater capacity to learn, it would be just like leaning their A B C.
Now it makes sense to say that if we were to cultivate organic food in great quantity, as a country, not only would we benefit from its nutrients, we'll also be able to benefit from this growing demand by becoming a supplier of organic food instead of a consumer.
This is the agenda; it is one that requires every individual to participate in a revolutionary movement that would redefine health as an accumulation of nutrients that brings about support for all vital organs. So, our right to a healthy life is defining by our access to nutrients. After all, it is only us that can change the health care system, and we can do this if simply every individual commit themselves to exercise, eat healthy and educate others.
Eating healthy mean to eat a variety of different type of fruits, vegetables, grains, and dairy that is nutritious. Everyone cheat themselves once or twice but the problem is that most people are not sure which food that are nutritionally healthy in nutrients, instead they settle for process food that are not nutritionally healthy. Eating healthy is a way of life; it is not a trend were today it's in style & two weeks later it's not. Eating healthy is the same as exercising; they're both requires a life time commitment.
I should also add that we should reduce our stress level. Stress is one of the biggest contributors that caused one to age fast. We often stress ourselves because of bills; as a result we work overtime, trying to accumulate enough money to pay those bills. However, we should not allow overtime to take priority over our health. The overtime will occasionally be available; our health may not, if left unman-aged for too long anything can happen. Instead, we should make time to exercise as a mean to reduce our stress. Remember that aging is a process of fatigue, to overcome it; we must exercise for exercise is not a temporary solution but a life time commitment that contributes to rejuvenation.
