Shark steak is a delicious meal that can be easily grilled. It's not as hard as it sounds, but it will impress your guests. These steaks are perfect for an outdoor meal on a warm evening.

Buy your shark steaks fresh. Choose steaks with a fresh smell and a light color. Your shark steaks should not smell fishy. When you feel them, they should give a little bit but definitely not be mushy. Ask the person at the fish counter when the sharks steaks came into the store. They should be very fresh for best results. Assuming you are not going to catch your own shark, you will have to settle for one that is a day old or so.

Keep the steaks in the paper in the refrigerator until you are ready to marinate them. For the best results, buy the shark steak the same day you plan to cook it. If the shark steak sits too long in your refrigerator, it will begin to take on a fishy smell. This smell can even spread to the rest of your food, so be sure to avoid it.

Make up a simple marinade remembering that less is best in this case. Remember that the shark steaks will soak up much of the marinade, so be sure not to make it too complicated or it will overpower the shark meat itself. A good marinade to use with shark steak is a soy sauce base with some garlic, brown sugar and rice wine vinegar. If you don't have experience with marinades, look at a few cookbooks. You will find many light marinades that will work well for cooking shark. If you need more direction, choose a marinade specifically suggested for fish.

Put the marinade and the shark steak into a plastic bag or sealed container, and put it in the refrigerator for several hours. Turn it at least once so that the marinade is able to soak into both sides. You should be able to see the marinade soaking into the shark steak.

Grill your shark steak on a very hot grill for about 10 minutes on one side and 5 minutes on the other. You will be able to see the color change in the steaks that will show you when they are done.

Plate your steaks will grilled veggies such as asparagus, onions or squash. Your guests will appreciate this delicious, and nutritious meal. You will be able to sit back and soak up the compliments.
