DUI/DWI explained

The worst possible thing you can do is to be drinking and driving. The second worst possible thing you can do is to be filled with drugs and prescription medication while you are driving as well. Driving while impaired verses driving under the influence is similar in definition but one relates to alcohol and the other one relates to drugs.

Driving while impaired means that you under the influence of a narcotic or some other kind of drug that is in turn impairing your ability to drive your vehicle in a safe manner. You may not think of it as being much of a big deal to take some thing before you go to work but it could affect how you drive and that could cause you to wreck your vehicle or become a reckless driver. Each offense has different fines and depending on how many of them you have you could lose your license or get sent to jail to post bond.

Driving under the influence means that you have a drop of alcohol in your system and if you get pulled over for a speeding ticket or some other kind of ticket; an officer can ask you to take a Breathalyzer test to determine your level of alcohol in your body. Remember different body sizes determines how much a person can drink and even the law officers will tell you that if you consume a large amount of alcohol at one time that you are better off to do 1-3 beers every hour or so. Consuming more than 3 beers in an hour can really impair your ability to drive and drive safely. You shouldn't be driving at all even if you have had one beer. One beer can really make you or break your case when it comes to come take it to court if it called for that. Just don't take the risk.

You are probably wondering why I mentioned the prescription medicine. I mentioned the prescription medicine because those drugs can have some side affects and can impair your eye sight, hearing, and slow you down from making you tired and sleepy. Some drugs have even been known to make a person black out while they are behind the wheel in a car or truck.

Driving while impaired and driving under the influence both call for serious action from law enforcement if they do stop you. They are protecting the people that allowed them to have this job to begin with and they are also protecting you from getting your self hurt as well. Just don't put yourself at risk and you will not have to be concerned about the consequences that follow your actions.
