iPod's have become the new sensation in this day and age, and they can be seen from the youngest of the young, to the oldest of the old. Our lives have been made so much easier by this little device that fits into the palm of our hands, and which lets us carry around and watch, hear, listen to and view a huge amount of data, which wasn't possible only a few years ago. So inspirational this device has been that it has created a number of spin-offs, though none can come close to the simplicity and ease of the original.
So once this little marvel arrives at your home and you delicately open the box and gaze at it with love, the unpacking is done, and you are ready to be part of the "iPod Revolution". But wait, how does one go about connecting the iPod to ones computer, much less start transferring their entire life's collection of pictures, music and videos onto it?
As the iPod is in and of itself a simple device (at least from a users point of view), the connection of it to the computer should also simple, right? You would be correct to assume that, and in reality it is pretty simple. First of all, your iPod must have come with an installation CD for iTunes, so pop that into your PC or Macintosh computer, and follow the installation process, defining the places iTunes saves downloaded music and where to save your play-lists. If your iPod did not however come with an installation CD then fear not, for Apple lets everyone download iTunes for free from its website. Simply click here to open it, and save it. The installation is the same as it is for the CD, with the exception that you will have to double-click on the installation file, as there will not be an auto play.
Now that we have installed iTunes, take out your iPod's USB cable that came with it in the box. Take the thinner and broader end of the cable and insert it into the base of your iPod, next take the thicker and shorter end of the cable and insert it into your computers USB port. Once you have properly connected both of these cables, your computer will automatically detect that you have connected your iPod and it will open iTunes. If iTunes does not open automatically, simply click its icon on your desktop and it will open. Now wait for your iPod to initialize and complete its customary "Sync" operation.
And there you have it, your iPod is now connected to your PC. To learn how to download music to your iPod click here, similarly to learn how to copy music CD's click here, and lastly, to learn how to transfer audio-books to your iPod, click here.
