The new generation of kids spend most of their time watching television or playing on the computer, but it has been proven that if you give them new activities they will definitely give them a try and even have more fun.
The perfect time to introduce them to new activities and games is during a party, if they see other people having fun, they will ask to play the game again and again.
Halloween parties are full of candy and sugary drinks, if you want your kids to burn off some of those treats before they go home, here are some ideas of classic games that can be easily turn into Halloween theme activities.
Monster stop: Give a piece of paper and a pencil to each kid; have them write the following categories on top, name, city, food and thing. Take turns with one player reciting the alphabet and one yelling stop. Use the letter it stopped on to write the name, city, food and thing. Remember it all has to relate to monster, for example, the letter F can be use as, Frankenstein, Florence, fudge and feet, each answer is worth 100 points, if it's repeated by someone else is worth 50, if more than 3 people have the same answer it's worth 25. You can recite the whole alphabet, at the end add all the points, the highest is the winner. The point is that the kids think of original words to get the most points.
Pin the bone: Before the party draw a big skeleton and tape it to the wall, get a scarf to blindfold the children, have them take turns trying to place the missing bone. As you can tell, this is just like pin the tail on the donkey, you can also do pin the patch on the pirate, or pin the nose on the witch, whichever you like better.
Frankenstein Hunt: with paper or fabric create all the different parts of Frankenstein body, make two or three sets, divide the kids into teams and have them look for the parts all over the house. The first team to have all the parts wins.
Guess how many: Pick up a few jars, big and small, at any crafts store or at a place like IKEA or the container store. Fill them with different types of candy, remember to count them. Have the kids try to calculate how many pieces are in each jar. The person who is closes to the actual number will win the jar.
Musical chairs: This is just like regular music chairs except that you will have all the music be Halloween songs. Place six chairs in the middle of the dance floor and have seven kids dance around them, when the music stops they have to sit down, the one left without a chair is out of the game, take a chair out and repeat, do the same until you have one chair and one person sitting down, one winner.
Zombie tag: Take a scarf and place it around one of the kid's eyes, have them chaise the other kids to tag them, when he or she tags someone else, put the scarf around the other kid's eyes, you can continue this game until they are tired.
