David stared into the hungry eyes of the beast. He could sense his own heart beating, and wondered if it might explode. The creature before him was covered in mutilated skin, it's teeth oozing with blood. As the creature slowly advanced upon David, it let out a shriek and pounced. David screamed in sheer terror, as the human zombie let out an evil laugh and ran away. David's too best friends Saul and Mark begin to laugh hysterically. It was Davids first time at a haunted house. It was Halloween and against his better judgment Saul and Mark had convinced him to come. He knew if he denied the request he would be branded a wussy for life. As he stared up at the doors to New York City's most premier haunted house, he had to admit to himself he was questioning why he agreed to come. As the next group entered the doors to the haunted house, he realized that he was only two groups away from going inside. He turned to Mark.. "I can't believe I let you talk me into this". "Oh you poor baby", Mark said. "Why don't you man up, it isn't like this is real". David gave him an angry smirk, as the next group entered the house. David knew that nothing inside the house was allowed to touch him, but that did not alleviate the sense of dread that he was feeling. Just as he considered backing out, the costumed witch at the door stated in a menacing voice, "It's your turn, step this way!". David looked at Mark and Saul and knew they were probably enjoying the fact he was so terrified. Intent on making a statement that he was just as tough as them, he took a breath and began walking. As he passed into the house he smelt a stench of artificial smoke, and the screams of both monsters and patrons. The first room that the group entered looked like a foyer to an old house. As him and his buddies entered, the door behind them slammed closed. The room was very dark, and all he could make out was a creepy looking book case to the wall, as well as some creepy pictures. A large chandelier hung from the ceiling dangling in an eerie way. As he and his friends looked around the room, unsure where to go, the bookcase slid aside, revealing a passage. The passage was dark, bringing back childhood memories of the darkness lurking under the bed. Mark looked at him, "Wow David, guess I'll have to go first wimp". Mark began walking down the dark corridor. David quickly followed, assuring that he would be in the middle, and Saul followed in the back. Down the dark hallway they went, hearing the sounds
