Halloween is a time for fantasy and play as well as for getting as much candy as the child can hold. What better time than Halloween to bring to life your child's favorite playtime characters. Most boys' costumes are influenced by movies, toys, and video games. However, a few boys still prefer the traditional Halloween costumes of vampires, mummies, ninjas, and nights. Here is a list of costumes that are popular among boys in the turn of 21st century.

Transformers Characters

Since the first Transformers movie was released in July of 2007, grade-school boys have loved the character Bumblebee. After Transformers 2 was released in June of 2009, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime are all they talk about. It's no wonder that they would choose to portray one of these two characters.

Star Wars Characters

Star Wars continues to be a popular after three decades. This generation of boys love the Clone Wars series and tend to act it out in their everyday play. So is it any surprise that they are looking forward to dressing up as a character from Clone Wars? Some of the more popular costumes include Yoda, a storm trooper, Anakin Skywalker, Jango Fett, Darth Vader, and even just feel empowered to become a jedi themselves.

Dan from Bakugan

Since the cartoon and toys debuted in 2007; boys all over the world have collected Bakugan including costumes. Although there are seven children who are Bakugan Brawlers, Dan is the most popular. Many boys will use Halloween to feel like a true Brawler by dressing up as Dan.

G.I. Joe Characters

Hasbro has been distributing these action figures since 1964. They were popular through the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1990s they weren't as popular but since the release of the new movie in 2009, popularity and sales have exploded. The most popular costumes include Snake Eyes and Duke.

Ninja

Ninja costumes have been popular for awhile. This could be because more boys are taking some sort of martial arts or it could just be that ninjas just never go out of style. There are over twenty different styles of ninja costumes, so it will about which one the child prefers. With the video game Mortal Kombat continuing to be popular, many boys enjoy dressing up as one of those ninja type characters.

Naruto

Naruto has been a popular manga series since 1997. From comics to cartoons to becoming a popular card game, some boys choose to dress up like one of these characters. The most popular would be Naruto himself, with Kakashi in close second.
