A family vacation can be made to fit any budget. The key is planning and knowing clearly what you want in your vacation. One of the first places to go would you be your travel agent. If you have a firm date or time frame, a budget and know what type of vacation you are looking for then share this with your travel agent. Deals come in all the time from numerous supplier to travel agents and they can let you know when specials come up that fit your needs.

Once you have decided on destination, budget, and time frame, then you can decide of the best saving strategy for your family vacation.

If you are interested in a Disney vacation then your travel agent will be able to give you an idea of specials for early bookings or off seaon bookings that offer free dining or free nights. If your family is interested in Disney and are flexible in your travel time then you have the potential to save quite a bit of money.

Accomodations can be an expensive part of a vacation. One way to save on accomodations would be a home swap. It is a great way to reduce your family vacation costs. It can be as simple as trading homes with relatives or signing up for an exchange program. Locations are availabe worldwide.

Air travel is another large cost for family vacations. There are several strategies to reduce air travel costs. One option is to ask your travel agent to keep you informed of seat sales for your selected destination, or sign up for an alert service. If you are travelling a lot on business or have a credit card that gives you miles then you may have reward miles you can use to purchase the air portion of your travel to reduce your overall costs.

Travel coupons can be used to reduce accomodations, food and entertainment costs. The best places to look for coupons are on the internet at tourism boards, saving websites, and if you are travelling in travel information centres.

If you are really limited in your budget, consider a stayaction - a new term for staying close to home for your vacation. The money you save on transportation and accomodation can be used to go to amusement parks, eating out at restaurants, and other activities.

There a number of ways to have a family vacation on a budget. If you are clear on what you want then you can fit your savings strategy around it.
