As an average working American that hopes to get out of the rat race and live on easy street one day, I'll tell you what I see in the Global Warming, I mean Global Cooling, wait that's right Climate Change debate. I see the forces of evil fighting against the, well, the other forces of evil. We have seen ultra conservatives, whose stocks in big oil are beginning to go down, in a war of words, slander, and documentaries against ultra Leftys (Lefty, Leftist Hippy) who have stocks in green companies.
The rest of us are left on the sideline being goaded into rooting for one or the other. The moment we pick a side we are either hatemongering, capitalist swine; or we are brain washed communists. So who do we believe?
We all know that we have ruled out the politicians pushing for either side. What college did Al Gore attend to get is Ph.D. in Climatology? Many of the Texas representatives have constituents that are heavily entrenched in the oil industry. Many democratic representatives have constituents that want a piece of the energy pie.
Why are they so ashamed to admit this? We the people understand, because we want industry in our own districts, yet these politicians have to hide behind the mask of earth savers or defenders of capitalism. If Nancy Pelosi were to be honest and say my San Francisco district wants four million dollars in federal funding to develop tidal energy, I would have much more respect for her. If Eric Cantor was honest with us and said that his Virginia District relies on energy from Coal mining I could trust him a little more.
Next we look to the scientists to lead us to the truth. If we thought that America was polarized on the issue, there is no need to get tangled in the great battle of Climatology. Physicists, Meteorologists, and Climatologists have come forward with so much information for or against the affects of Climate Change that we the laymen don't know who to look to for an answer.
The scientists that push 'the something must be done immediately agenda' don't even agree on what the actual affects of Global Warming will be. They just keep pointing to the models from their computer predictions (that they programmed) and warn that we need to stop driving our cars.
There is only one thing that I know about climate change. Here in Phoenix it is hot, and there are two seasons, summer and not so summer. I could walk to work and that won't change the climate. I like to recycle and have found that the funny looking bulbs save me a few dollars. I don't like the gas prices, but I am responsible for how much I pay in gas because I bought a car powered by it.
Climate change is inevitable, I am told that in other lands there are places where it is warm in the summer, then cool in the autumn, then cold in the winter, then cool in the spring. We humans have an uncanny ability to adapt to the environment that surrounds us; unfortunately we have never had the ability to control our environment. I am an adapter, here in Phoenix, I pay the evil energy companies for the ability to cool down my environment with air conditioning.
