Everyone has probably already some friends from childhood and know that social contact is important to get more friends. Friends are valuable in our lives but you may encounter several problems when you search for more friends. It might seem easy but you will discover fast that not everyone you meet can become your friends.

Friends need certain capacities, for example a good listener, trustworthiness, honesty, respect, patience and will try to help when you are in trouble or you need advice. Real friends are not easy to find and you understand making more friends is not like dating or choosing some books to read.

Some people never have trouble to get more friends but some people may be too shy or they have difficulties to make contact with other people. They don't know how to start talking with other people and sometimes it is just a matter of making the first step for talking with someone else. They need some courage but once they know the ropes, they succeed in getting more people as friend.

Here are some steps which may help you to get more people to be your friend:

*Join a club or any social activity

Everyone has some hobbies or some activities they like to do with other people. Joining a club can be a good idea because you will meet people with similar interests. It is possible you like to exercise and there is certainly a club in your environment where you can exercise with other people. During your activities you will talk to each other and probably you will have a drink together after your exercises. It is a good way to get to know each other better and you can talk about your personal life and maybe after some time you will make appointments with some of these people and before you know you have a new circle of friends.

*Your workplace

It is possible you like some colleagues on your work but that doesn't mean immediately they will become good friends. Working together can result in a friendship but it even possible you can only be colleagues. Jealousy and striving for promotion are issues which can cause trouble in your work situation and is also an important factor why you never can be friends. Your workplace can be a good place to find some new friends. It is perfect possible you meet some colleagues which you can trust but you need to make appointments after your work if you want to get some of these colleagues to your friend. Going shopping, having a drink together, an evening in theatre or any other cultural event
