A slight creak of the door
Light peeking through shadows
Falling across my cheek
with the whisper of baby steps
A tiny touch, a gentle kiss
Dreams becoming something greater
The memory of an angel
My heart alight with love
One eye open to take a peek
As there she stands to greet me
Like the day, so fresh and new
"Mommy" she says, "wake up."
