Poetry: My daughter

by Karen Umrysh

Created on: October 16, 2009

A slight creak of the door

Light peeking through shadows

Falling across my cheek

with the whisper of baby steps

A tiny touch, a gentle kiss

Dreams becoming something greater

The memory of an angel

My heart alight with love

One eye open to take a peek

As there she stands to greet me

Like the day, so fresh and new

"Mommy" she says, "wake up."
