Her Revenge
She knew she would have to walk for many miles before seeing any signs of life. The world has changed that was so obvious. Surroundings have changed since the last time she's been up top. Now that the air was somewhat safe she would venture out in search of......
Covered in dust and dried up blood she walked for three days now, stopping only for an hour or two to rest every ten. She couldn't feel the pain, the blisters on her feet and the blood filled shoes didn't bother her at all. Not now, not while she was so close to finding out the truth. It was so close she could smell the droplets of it on the air she was hungrily breathing in. Her heart was beating fast but steady. Sweat beads slowly rolling down her forehead and cheeks, slowly dripping, soaking her lips and every time she licked them she tasted the salt and the grains of sand wind blew against her body. Her steps were deliberate and her feet were planted firmly on the ground with each step.
The very first day she decided to walk out of the safety of the nest she was attacked by one of them. Bloodied up and swollen face was not the only scar of that attack she was carrying now. There were much deeper scars much older scars. They couldn't be patched up or sown shut. No. Despite of the pain of a broken wrist bruised ribs and many cuts on her face she pushed on. The distance she had to cover was vast and walking through this desert was almost unbearable had it not been for what drove her to do it.
She knew she could find him. The one responsible for everything. Her tears turned into iron will that gave her the fuel to push beyond limits.
On the third day, just as the sun was setting she saw the lights in the distance flickering against the dark sky which was fairly dark these days. There were no stars, she forgot what that looked like, to see stars shining on the surface of the deep space.
Her eyes narrowed and her step quickened a mile away from that place. All of the memories flashed before her eyes and she could no longer ignore the gnawing pain deep within her body. It started from the middle of her chest and it radiated along the nerves. She could hear her heart beating and she could hear the blood moving in her veins with each beat. The crackling noise in her ears began to intensify and once again she was on a hospital bed, hooked up to machines and needles. Drills whirling and her skull slowly powdered around the metal bit. The things she saw and heard were now fresh in her mind and her brain worked overtime to bring them up to the surface in painful bursts of past mixed in with reality. Piercing out from within was the pain, the memory being brought back to life from beyond.
She was 10 once again, scarred beyond words, alone, with strange men hanging over her head with tools she couldn't clearly see. All she knew is how much pain she felt and blood she saw splashing around. She couldn't move with her arms and legs tied to the bed. She couldn't scream or fight back. She remembered their names though. She remembered their eyes piercing through her soul. They were trying to extract whatever it was that made her immune to their viruses. To their diseases and misery that they've spread around the world in few short years. Their vaccines didn't stop anything they were supposed to stop. They made everything worse. A simple flu became the killer spreading around like wild fire. They tried to stop it, oh they've tried. They've done everything they could including burning those who were infected. Pulling out their bone marrow to study it. They've finally nuked almost every major city on this continent. They didn't worry about consequences. They didn't think that this could mean the end of everything including nature. Nature was immune to the virus but it was not immune to radioactive material. Slowly everything died out and there very few pockets of wild life left. Those who saw what was happening and were against it tried to stop it but they were powerless against them. Didn't have the unlimited resources. So they've done the only thing they could think of. Hide, build underground and hide. Slowly what started with few brave souls became a network of caves dug out by hand. An underground city with network of tunnels spanning 3 miles. Not very large but it did hold everyone that survived the cleansing.
She was the only one left outside when everything stopped. She was far away from blasts but she was not affected by the virus. She would be the only one to live without getting sick. Out of one million people who survived the virus out of 2 billion people she was the only one that never had it. Natural immunity. As it turns out she was the only one that escaped their vaccination law. Her reason for it? She was 9 and she was afraid of needles. Simple enough.
Now, once again she was heading towards this evil place only this time she would have her vengeance.
She knew she would not be invisible under the cover of the night. She slipped quietly into the main building, there were no guards what would be the point? She opened the door on the side of the building and slowly she walked in, navigating the hallways checking all of the rooms with medical and military equipment.
She knew that most of them would be in the underground lab. She remembered that long ride in an elevator. She knew where to go once she reached the bottom.
After the door opened and she stepped out she slipped her backpack off and took out her weapon. She had enough TNT to blow this thing sky high. That's not what she wanted to do. She wanted them to suffer. She slipped on her gas mask and opened canister with the nerve gas and let it slowly hiss out and she watch it be quickly sucked up by the vents. As she walked closer and closer to the main lab she heard the bodies dropping to the ground. Now it was her chance to do what she came here to do.
Every single one of them would have four sticks of dynamite strapped to them all connected to one main switch that main switch was shoved into the belly of the beast. The one in charge of this underground horror. Every time his pulse would go up or his temperature would go above 96 degrees one of his friends would have his arms and legs blow off. She knew how to set the charges and how to prepare the sticks so they would only do the damage she needed them to do. She studied it long enough. She tested enough of these devices to know. She knew how long the gas would take and how long it would take her to wire everything properly. All she had to do is to wait for them to wake up so she could stand there and explain how things will work out for them. The 10 of them woke up slowly, becoming aware of the surroundings and once they were all awake she explained everything.
If you try to cut the wires you will all blow up at the same time, if you try to cut the main wire leading to his chest you will all blow up. If his heart beats faster than 120bpm or his temperature goes above 96 boom! One by one you will all be freed of your limbs before slowly bleeding out. There is no kill switch there is no code, there is no stopping it now. You are getting exactly what you deserve it's just a question of how long it will take.
As she turned around slowly walking away towards the exit she heard a howl filled with anger and hate calling our her name, the earth shook and bits and pieces of dirt fell from the ceiling above. BOOOOOM!
One down 9 more to go she thought to herself grinning with a wild look in her eye.
Out with a bang eh?
