Why are women afraid to commit?
One of the greatest aspects of adult life is finding a partner one can settle down with - someone to help in times of sorrow, to understand personal dreams and to share in moments of triumph. However, finding such a person isn't as easy as it once seemed to be.
Changes in Society
Society has changed considerably on a lot of fronts. While there are still a number of traditional families, the family structure has undergone major construction, if I may use that expression. There are single parent families - whether by choice or because of a change in circumstances - and there are gay couples who have also adopted children. In some cases, would-be grandparents decide to adopt their child's son or daughter, especially prevalent in aboriginal societies.
Values have also deteriorated over recent years. Too many people don't know the value of hard work, preferring instead to play video games or sit in front of the television or computer for hours each day. Others spend countless hours with friends, ignoring their duties and obligations.
Respect for others and their property is severely lacking; the news always gives a report about some type of criminal act and, as much as is heard on the subject of abuse, it's only a drop in the proverbial bucket to what is really occurring.
Commitment, in general - to jobs, health, families, friends and goals - has lessened. People change jobs often and they choose unhealthy habits. They spend too much time away from their families, break away from their original family and begin another one, or cheat on their partners. Others are too busy to pick up the phone and call a friend, and, as a society, people have all but given up on the goals they have carried because life has grown so busy.
As such, it's understandable when people are afraid to commit their lives to someone else; after all, a lifetime may be short or it may last several decades, and choosing the right partner the first time around is a blessing - though it rarely happens anymore.
Difficulties women face
Women, especially, find it hard to commit whereas, one time, it was easier for a woman to commit than it was for a man, or so it seemed. So many changes in society, the family structure and the workplace is largely the reason behind the significant change. Allow me to elaborate...
