Yes, I do believe Martin Luther King's vision has been fulflled. Mr. King wanted equality for all and that vision has been met. Yet, many still live in the past do not realize how far all of us have come. Think of the immigrants of yesteryear and all the people who struggled to achieve equality. This is America now, and anyone who is determined, driven, and has a dream can become successful. Unfortunately, too many do all they can to keep reliving what was done to their ancestors. Of course, it was awful was occurred in the past. Yet, we must keep looking forward and know that we all have the same opportunties no matter our race, creed, color, or sexual orientation.
Polticians keep using what occurred in the past to further their own agendas. We as Americans are all in this together. When we see people suffering we are there for them. We understand that some are more priviledged than others and much has been done to correct this. Mr. King's vision was for all Americans to be equal. Most Americans understand that and try there best to get along with each other. Again, it is the politicians and special interest groups who try to keep us divided and fight among each other. Americans only want what is best for their children and society as a whole. When a crisis arises we stand side by side. Political views, race, creed, and color are put aside.
Mr. King has a vision of peace for all of us. If you worked hard, knew right from wrong, did right by your family and friends you deserved the American Dream of home ownership, a better life for your children, time to spend with family and friends, and in your old age you should be able to enjoy the benefits of what you did in your youth.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a special man. He had a vision to bring all Americans together. He did not have an agenda. He only wanted for all Americans to live peacefully together. How sad that so many, white and black, take his vision and turn into their own politicial agendas. Every person in America deserves a chance to be equal and live a life of peace and happiness.
He would have been so proud and happy to know that our President is an Africian American. Yet, I do not believe he would have used the race card everytime someone did not share the views of our present President. America is not black and white. It is filled with much color, different shades, and diversity. That is what this country was built on. We, present Americans, cannot help what happened in the past to so many who deserved to be treated so much better than we were. Yet, as present day Americans, we must continue to follow his dream and work together to figure out how to continue to make a better life for our children and grandchildren.
