How to get more enjoyment out of life

Here are some simple ways to get the most out of life.

1. Try your best to look at the bright side of every situation. Life is much to short to dwell on the bad things that happen or go on around you. If something bad happens to you and you need the help of others, maybe this is your chance to make a new friend.

2. Don't wait for things to happen, make them happen. If you want to go somewhere or do something bad enough you will succeed. To many people are so busy looking for the right opportunity to present itself that when it does they don't see it right in front of them.

3. Be willing to try new things. I'm not telling you to go break any laws or commandments, I'm just saying if someone asks you to go white water rafting with them and you have the time, do it. Don't be afraid of a little adventure.

4. If you're bored with the things that go on in your life, find some active friends. Maybe you want to play softball once or twice a week. Join a league. Maybe bowling is your thing, there are a lot of interesting people there. Start going for walks at random times during the day. If you walk at the same time every day you may miss out on meeting new people.

5. Look for friends that have the same interests as you. I've found that if you have a lot of different interests, that you may need multiple friends to hang out with. One friend may be for an intellectual friendship while another may be for outdoor activities. It never hurts to have a few friends, but don't get so many that you don't have enough time to treat them like friends.

6. Try to do something you've never done at least once a month, once a week if you're up to it. Be a kid again. How long has it been since you've flown a kite. Go swimming, that is one of the most relaxing things for me. Run, get some of your pent up aggressions out.

7. Finally, learn how to relax. Pick a book and read it. Curl up on the couch with your honey and just talk to each other like you did when you were dating. Give each other foot rubs, that always relaxes my wife and I. Rent a movie, pop some popcorn, turn the lights down and enjoy the company of those your with.

Live life as if you believe that it is the gift that it is. Every moment is fleeting, enjoy it as best you can.
