Simply, the answer is No! But does that stop people from going there, well again, No! All over the world there are exclusive restaurants, with history, amazing views and location, that all have a story to tell, and that go along with a hefty price tag. The Executive Chefs are well known, possibly even legendary, which ups the bottom line value considerably. But with all these factors, is it relative to what we are paying for our meal, or is it more important the quality of the ingredients of the meal, where it came from, how unique the meal is and how unforgettable will the meal be? All of these items factor into the final price, but is it enough.
Many of these restaurants do serve amazing meals that quite possibly can only be consumed in their fine establishments, but is there something comparative if not the same elsewhere for a fraction of the cost, well surely, probably even within walking distance. So why do we fork out the big bucks to eat at these restaurants.
Well, the number one reason would be the 'To Be Seen' factor. We live in a shallow society of 'look at me, look at me'. We are smothered with it, through all areas of the media and then in turn from friends, family and business associates. On the food network recently, they were showing a restaurant that served up a $50 burger. Now it surely did look like an amazing burger, and I am sure it's patty was from the finest beef in the world, but in the big scheme of things, how many of us are really going to eat a $50 burger when next door has a $6 or even $12 burger? Most people don't even earn $50 in a day, let alone enough to spend on one meal in one day. So what is the attraction? As they were interviewing a lot of patrons eating this $50 burger, the patrons were mostly business men and women, and without being visually biased, well to do sort of folk. The show went on to say that the establishment had been around for quite a lengthy period of time, even catering to many mayors over the years. So it seems that this is somewhere to be seen, it has history, and is a haunt of many of the local well-to-do's. Would regular Joe call down there for that burger? Well, I am sure he would love to, but in all honesty, the Mom and Pop show down the block is probably just as good, if not better.
