A Larmin
Away down deep beneath the waves
A fish lives with no fear
Not tuna, carp, or halibut
But marlin, so I hear
Their bravery known far and wide
That is except for one
A nervous type afraid to say
An undeserving son
His classmates made much sport of him
While in the local school
His timidness and puny size
Betrayed him as a fool
And so they dubbed him cruelly
In a mean and spiteful game
When he first heard it made him blush
For Larmin was his name
It really was a shame you see
He was quite cute and charmin'
Too bad he had that little quirk
And so he was a Larmin
The females of the species
Didn't want a fish not bold
He sadly spent his youth alone
No girlfriends thus I'm told
When he grew larger it was worse
Though some found it amusing
His massive size but fearful ways
Were really quite confusing
And then one day poor Larmin
After rising from his sleep
Was cruising near the surface
(Far away from dark and deep)
There he chanced upon trawler
With its nets spread out to sea
A few he knew were captured there
Their plight was plain to see
Now fear was something he knew well
He'd known it all his life
He blamed it for the fact that he
Had never had a wife
And so for once he charged ahead
The fishermen had fits
His ample girth insured success
He tore that net to bits
After that day his fate was changed
Although he was the same
And many fry were christened
With a Larmin for their name
