Enjoying professional wrestling as entertainment

Pro-wrestling is a hybrid of a sport and an entertainment and as such, it is dubbed as a kind of sports-entertainment. The sport facet of pro-wrestling is actually the fact that there is competition within it and that the participants are showcasing their skills and ability to an audience to compete for various titles (usually in the form of belts) as well as of course to be the best in the industry. What makes it different is of course the entertainment facet of it. This is so because even though pro-wrestling is supposed to be a purely competitive affair among the participants, it is very interesting to note that the matches in pro-wrestling are all actually scripted, and whatever goes on inside the squared circle (the ring) are all actually very well structured and according to the scripts. Besides the matches, the story-lines among the superstars which seems to be real are all acted and in accordance to the scripts as well, although it might deviate in certain occasions. The term which is used to describe the acting element in pro-wrestling is kayfabe.

Personally, I have been a crazed wrestling fan since 1999 and just like many other fans out there, the first wrestling taste in my life was through watching WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) -which was known as WWF )World Wrestling Federation back then-, which has been the dominating player in the wrestling industry since the fall of WCW (World Championship Wrestling). Also, as many of other fans, I have been continuously asked by those non-fans out there on how on earth I could enjoy pro-wrestling as an entertainment. Sometimes it is very difficult to convey the message as an explanation to them especially because 99% of the time they would use the aforementioned Kayfabe elements of pro-wrestling to question fans' enjoyment of pro-wrestling. The following paragraph would cover on how wrestling is enjoyed as an entertainment and as a form of answer to those who are relentlessly asking questions about the enjoyment of wrestling.

First and foremost. I would start with the kayfabe elements that pro-wrestling detractors have been so relentless in pointing out. It is very true that just like what have been mentioned in the first paragraph, that almost anything happening within the pro-wrestling scene are all scripted and acted accordingly by the superstars. From matches in which the outcomes have been decided in the script to how a storyline among superstars in which it has been decided how the story would pan
