So you just got off the phone with one of your friends and they have invited you to a Halloween dress up party. It's been a long time since you've dressed up for Halloween and you have some questions on what would be a fun and original costume. Original is the most important part because you know there will probably be five Michael Jacksons and three or four Barack Obamas. So here are a few ideas that may catch everyone's eye as soon as you walk in the door:
Corpse Bride- This character comes from the Tim Burton movie "Corpse Bride" and is a beautiful costume for women. Now the corpse bride is suppose to be a scary bride that is very lovable and wouldn't hurt a fly. So it may take some acting to pull her off completely. You can find accessories for this costume on-line but if you were planning to do it yourself it is also very manageable. A spray on hair color of purple, a long white dress that is dirty, and some make up to put on your face to make it look like you have stitches and you got it.
Wizard of Oz Flying Monkey- The flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz come off as scary at first but as the movie goes on you learn they are just following their leader. The reason to bring this up is because that can give you two ideas for this costume, scary or funny? Use your imagination and look at some pictures from the movie and do it yourself, or you can go on-line and find many variations of this costume.
Gilligan- If you're on a tight budget and just want to get into the door of your Halloween party you can go as the loveable Gilligan. Some blue flared pants, a red long sleeves t-shirt, a white sailor's hat, and a funny looking shrug of the shoulders is all you need to pull off one of TV's funniest sailors.
Beer Pong Costume- Maybe one of the more popular costumes on the list but it is still very funny and easy. You see these for sale in every costume magazine for thirty or forty dollars which is a little pricey. So why not do it yourself? Just get a cheap black pair of pants and long sleeve shirt, a brown blanket, some sew and stitch, and some red cups. Stitch the top of the blanket to your shirt going across from each shoulder blade. Then glue the cups on each side in a beer pong pattern and you got it.
Beetlejuice- The only hard part of being Beetlejuice for Halloween is actually BEING BEETLEJUICE. You can get all dressed up and look exactly like him but if you can't play the part don't take the role. Excite everyone at your party by going into movie scenes and quotes from the movie. Walking around like normal Joe will only take away from your costume so you have to really sell it.
Colonel Sanders- This is a very fun costume to do yourself and you get to eat a bucket of chicken too! All you need is a white wig (unless you are already blessed to have one naturally), white beard and goatee, black tie, and a bucket of chicken. You can either carry around an empty bucket or just pick one up on your way to the party and pass some around. Either way the costume is a blast.
Those are just a few unique costumes for this Halloween. You can also make many original costumes at home. It doesn't have to be a movie character or someone famous. Be a math book, refrigerator, coke bottle, flat screen TV, or even come up with a costume that resembles one of your pets. All you need is some creativity and a little time and your costume can be the hit at your party.
