It is better to deal with a weight problem sooner rather than later as otherwise the temptation to ignore it completely can overwhelm you. Clearly, it is much easier to stay as you are, eating whatever kinds of food you usually eat and continuing to live the life that is normal to you, than overhauling your lifestyle to enable weight loss. Even if your weight proves to be a growing inconvenience, some people find the prospect of changing their routine extremely daunting, so that even though their health is in serious jeopardy they would prefer to continue on the same path.
If you choose to ignore your weight problem, however, you can find yourself continuing to gain weight and at some point your health will be affected, by which point it becomes even more difficult to address the situation. The heavier you are the more strain your heart is under, and the same goes for every other part of your body. This can reduce your mobility and make even getting out of bed a challenge. If you can't do any exercise, then you will be burning fewer calories than if you were walking about the place, and thus you could find that your weight continues to increase.
This isn't good news for your physical health, but can also be damaging for your psychological well-being, making you feel depressed and run down. Many people turn to food when they're depressed, and if you're the kind of person who eats huge quantities of calorific foods then you may be exacerbating your weight problem.
Most people address their weight before it leaves them bed-ridden, though, as they may start finding it harder to breathe and develop health problems such as diabetes, which can make them panic. They therefore decide to address their size, and yet they would have been better off losing the extra weight before they developed such health issues, obviously. The trouble is that if you ignore a weight problem, and you continue to put on weight, when you finally do decide to alter the situation the amount of weight you have to lose is much greater than if you'd opted to lose weight a few years previously.
It is hard enough losing weight in the first place, but when you've got hundreds of pounds to lose, instead of 20 or 30 it can be extremely challenging to stay motivated for the amount of time required to lose that kind of weight. Therefore, it is better to acknowledge when you have a weight problem and deal with it sooner rather than later so you can hopefully avoid developing health issues and the prospect of having to lose such a huge amount of weight.
