Beat the Job Loss Blues
The economy is in turmoil and the jobless are becoming more and more desperate to try and make ends meet. The job market continues to shrink and people have to make drastic changes to their lifestyles in order to survive. Such extreme changes cause a high level of stress in individuals and strain on families. While it may seem that the only possible solution to these problems may be getting lucky enough to find a job, it is possible to reduce the mental strain that the economy has provided.
This is not an easy process, especially for those who feel hopeless and have lost motivation due to depression. It is very important to try and work through the stress and emotional issues brought about by being unemployed or a discouraged worker. These emotional issues can cause serious problems with both physical health as well as family strain.
While it is important to continue trying to find employment, it is still very likely that there is free time available to try and improve upon the feelings of distress. One possibility is to realize that many of the common conveniences that people are forced to give up are not necessary to survival. Think about what life was like a hundred years ago or even further in the past. People used to be very happy simply having a roof over their head and bread for supper. This is often a good way to recognize the things that you do have and realize that things could be even harder.
Another way to reduce stress is to occupy time. The new free time is a great way to do all of the things that were not possible to do while employed. Try to pick up a new hobby, reorganize the house, or even find enjoyable things to do online. Anything that can make a person feel productive while they have the job loss blues can be extremely rewarding and beneficial.
The battle with stress is an extremely difficult battle to win, but it is not impossible. If everything turns out fine in the long run, the stress and strain would have been simply a waste of time. The long-term damage it can cause to family and friends who can feel the stress as well is simply not worth it. Two great ways to beat the job loss blues are to recognize the positive things in life and to be productive in any way. Hopefully in the end everything will work out, and you will feel good about the things you got accomplished during your "time off."
