I got a new job today! Yes, now I am more important in the world because of my income, right? Wrong. In fact, money does not even get to decide how important you are to other people.
The importance of a person is how much they mean to you regardless of how much income they make. Even if your best friend becomes a billionaire today, he will still be the same person he was before. His status of importance does not change in your eyes.
Every August 15, Indians get to celebrate their Independence Day with huge celebration all across India. This all happened after an important man named Mahatma Gandhi led these people to rebel against the British Rule. He is now called the "Father of India", fighting for Indians while living his life among the poor, even opting to stay in the slums when he made trips to Britain. He is a very important person in history and he used no money to get there. He showed us that even a man that is poor could change the course of history. If it was not for him, Indian would not get to celebrate their Independence Day every year.
The people that should be most important to you should be your family. If they do not make a lot of money, so what? They are the ones that give you are the good memories and are there for you when you happy, sad, depressed, excited, angry. To me these things make them more important then a person with lots of money any day. Bill Gates, the chairman and founder of one of the most successful companies in the world, Microsoft, is also one of the richest man in the world. To some people he is the most important man in the world because he has loads and loads of money, but is he really? He does not stand a chance to what the major people in your life do for you.
It does not matter if you're rich or poor, money does not make you important at all. In fact, it is the people you surround yourself with, that should be more important to you, not how much their income is. The world does not revolve around money because there are many people in the world that do not have a lot of money, but are still important in the eyes of their family members and others. Whether they are rich or poor, every human is important in one way or another regardless of how much money that they have made throughout their life.
