Hotel reviews: Green Forest Hotel, Hisaronu, Turkey

The 'all inclusive' Green Forest Hotel was recommended by my son and his wife, although since their stay, it has been totally rebuilt and moved up a rating to Four Star. It is now in the process of applying for Five Stars. My 23 year old daughter and I chose the end of season (October) as neither of us like too much heat. The prices are also cheaper and we knew the children were back at school. Our plan was for a peaceful, relaxing holiday - reading our books, swimming and snorkelling in temperatures between 25 and 29 degrees Celsius. After thirty years of bringing up four children and always having to find holidays that provided plenty of activities for them, I wanted to make sure that this holiday would be my idea of heaven!

The hotel is about one hour from Dalaman Airport, but the air conditioned transfer coach provided by Cosmos made the journey a pleasant one. We arrived to beautiful warm sunshine which felt wonderful as the summer at home had finally come to an end. The hotel staff were very welcoming and check-in was speedy and well organised. My daughter and I were pleasantly surprised at our modern, clean, well equipped room. There was tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, free air-conditioning, flat screen TV, lockable safe, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, and sunny balcony. The shower was spacious and very powerful and the toilet had a built in bidet. We were also pleased to discover free Wi Fi as I had brought my laptop along to continue my writing and this meant we could keep in touch with family free of charge and without worrying about high mobile phone bills on our return. The only negatives I would say are the rather small single beds (2'6") and the echo in the corridor. As quiet as people try to be, you can clearly hear their voices, hear the clip clop of heels and the loud click of the doors opening and closing. I think if you had bad neighbours (which we didn't) this could be a problem. The patio door leading to the balcony is double glazed and shuts out any noise from the outside. We experienced cats making a lot of noise below our room (first floor), but at least we could shut this out at night.

One holiday we had previously in Turkey, was made miserable due to constant attack by mosquitoes. This has not been an issue at all here, which surprises me due to being in a pine forest - although wasps have been a bit of a pest at times.

The location has been perfect for us. The Green Forest Hotel is set among the trees away from
