Winter boots for children....as is all other children's shoes...can be expensive. Children outgrow shoes so quickly that it can seem like a waste of money every time you have to shop for and buy a new pair of shoes for your child. Winter boots can be even more frustrating because, depending on where you live, the winter weather might be unpredictable and those winter boots might not be worn as much as you had hoped they would be.
Luckily, there are ways around spending a fortune on your children's winter boots. I suggest first checking second hand stores. If you are not someone who wants to shop at a Goodwill type of store you can try other second hand stores like Once Upon a Child and Kid to Kid. These are franchise stores who buy gently used children's clothing, shoes, toys, and furniture and resell them at significantly lower prices than retail stores. Items are only sold that are in good condition. A plus is that once your child outgrows those winter boots, you can resell them back to the store and get some of your money back....assuming they are still in a good wearable condition.
Another option is shopping at the Burlington Coat Factory or outlet malls. They have prices that are fairly lower than most other retail stores and are of good quality.
Looking for deals online is also a good way to find a good price. This can be somewhat tricky though in that your child cannot try on the boots before buying of course. But, you can sometimes find online only coupons and discount codes plus free shipping through online websites and most sites do allow for returns or exchanges just as any physical retail store would.
A really great way to buy children's winter boots on a budget are at the end of winter. This can also be somewhat tricky because when doing this you are buying for the following winter and are having to estimate what size boot your child will be wearing at that time. However, by doing this, you can usually get the boots at clearance price since the store is trying to get rid of their winter items before the Spring.
Whichever way you choose to find and buy your child winter boots, remember that you can always take time to a second hand store to sell and get some of your money back off of them. The best time to try to sell winter boots to one of these stores would be right before the start of winter because the store will be more likely to make money off of them sooner than later.
