Teaching to the children requires much more concentration, lots of skills and experience too; because if a teacher is not well skilled, not well trained (in terms of pupils education) then its too difficult for a child to get the ideas about the things which are taught to him while at initial stage a child does not know how to pronounce even a simple word? When we go beyond, there were different reading comprehension strategies while nowadays there are different and much better reading comprehension strategies which are taught in elementary classrooms.
Before going for comprehension reading for a child, its better for a teacher that he must get the training about reading comprehension strategies for elementary classrooms, and its fact that if a teacher is well skilled and trained then student will automatically get the things easily. Nowadays there are also trainings given to teachers to boast up their skills who teach in elementary classrooms too.
In olden days, a piece of wood called Patti was used for writing letters. These letters were written on that piece of wood and then pronounced by a teacher. Afterwards that piece of wood has been given to a student for reading, pronouncing again and again to remember those letters. When a student gets the idea about letters, he has also given words at the same piece of wood but at top, and then student used to write same words below those words at the same piece of wood for improving his writing skills, when a student gets complete idea about reading and writing on that piece of wood then there were a piece of black sheet (thin sheet of iron) on which a student used to write with a pen like chalk for improving his writing skills more.
But nowadays, the new techniques are introduced to teach the students of elementary classrooms for comprehension reading and writing. Like:
Reading words by looking at pictures: By this technique a little kid not only gets the clear idea about that word but also remembering power will increased too.
Playing word games: By this technique a little kid not only remembers the words but he also get enjoyment.
Filling missing words in a sentence: By this technique the mind of a little kid enters into a stage where he can think wider.
It's quite clear that teaching little kids is not so easy but if one is well trained well skilled then it's good for comprehension reading as well as writing for elementary classroom pupils. Further more, the behavior with those little kids should be polite and this thing plays a vital role in their education, by this way hesitation has been removed from them. So these all things are very necessary for reading comprehension strategies in elementary classrooms.
