The iPod Touch is the next best thing to the iPhone. It has everything except the phone and the monthly fee. On the downside, free wireless internet may not be as readily available. Some of the applications would not work until you connect again.
The following briefly describes how to use the iTouch applications. Each application is identified by a small icon with a title. Sixteen apps (as they are called) come with it, arranged in rows of four. They can be rearranged to suit your needs. To rearrange, touch an icon and press it until they all start to wiggle. While they are wiggling, they can be re-located on the same page or the next page. There is room for four that you use the most to stay stationary on the bottom row. Even these can be moved if you decide you would rather have a different one in that spot. When finished, hold down the home button until they stop wiggling.
Some of the common features on many applications are the plus (+) sign to ADD entries, arrows (<,>) for previous and next page, and a keyboard that appears when necessary to type entries. The word DONE completes an action. A trash can deletes entries. Also, a red circle, then the word delete. All of the commands for iTouch require the user to Touch the symbol to start the action, rather than click. There is a roller for choosing day, date and time combinations for appointments.
The Calendar, Clock, Calculator, Contacts, Notes & Settings applications do not require Internet to use.
Calendar - the current month displays with today highlighted. Enter appointments using the features above. Remember, wherever you would normally click and type, touch the word (i.e. title) to place the cursor and when the keyboard appears, type. Schedule a single appointment or a recurring one with regular intervals and an ending date. Choose list, day or month to view. To return to today, touch the word today.
Clock - There are four options in the clock app:
*World clock - Choose your favorites by adding entries. Browse for the city. Use when you need to be aware of the time difference before making a call.
*Alarm - Touch your choices and save for one day or repeated use.
*Stopwatch - Touch start to count time from this moment forward. Touch stop when finished.
*Timer - Roll the barrel to your selected amount of time. Touch start to count down. Buzzer will sound when the time is up.
Contacts - Make entries using the same tools as before, ADD (+), Touch titles, use pop-up keyboard to enter data, touch
