Problems with holistic medicine

I believe that people should not get holistic treatments. I have an illness that they say is permanent. I have been in a doctor's care and therapy for much of my life. My father told me that he thinks it would be better if I took natural herbs, etc., instead of all the pills I take each day. I agreed. My dad's cousin comes with us to the meeting as she knows the lady very well. I did not really like or trust my dad's cousin, but I was happy that she actually wanted to help me.

At the meeting about 10 people sit and talk about holistic medicine. She then showed a video about a Christian man who also believes in this. I am very religious, and once I saw a prominent Christian preacher suggest this, I was hooked. I then go with her to get medicine in another room. She is an iridologist. She looked at my eyes, moved my head, etc. She states I that I had a concussion and there is a scar from it in the back of my head, and other diagnoses. The cousin and the doctor start taking out different medicines. Finally, I have about 6 different things I have to take everyday.

My bill was $90, which seemed OK for all the bottles I had. I start following the regimen, and I feel great. I think this is wonderful because I was not tired or anything. Taking the medicine on time was kind of difficult. I had to drink things like Chlorophyll in the morning, take zinc pills, etc. It was really difficult. I thought, finally, no more pills. But I guess everything was not OK.

I was coming into my house when my most trusted and kind neighbor asked was something wrong with me. I told her no, that I was just fine. But she looked at me really strange and continued to ask me was I OK? Then I went into the house. It was so weird because I thought I looked well, but maybe I didn't. I decided if people are going to look at me strangely all the time, what is the point of all these herbs? I made a decision.

I could not really evaluate myself in this state, and I had run out of some medicine and had to pay to ship more to me. It was expensive. I decided to quit it. I love being around people, and if I look sick, what would I do. I started taking my pills again and ditched the holistic stuff. I was just fine after a while and no one asked my if I looked strange. I called the lady's secretary and told her not to send me the items. She got really aggressive and asked was something wrong and we should talk about it. I soon hung up. Now I am perfectly healthy with some weight issues. I say never again. That holistic medicine was harder to take than my pills each day. I was relieved to be free and haven't stopped ever since. I also threw away all the bottles and I felt great.
