Johnnies foot was stuck in the long white sheet as he walked. He tripped slightly, only just managing to regain his balance in time before pulling his ghost costume around his knees while muttering to himself.
"Why oh why do I get myself into these situations." He groaned. " I could be sat at home in-front of my Xbox in my bedroom, but no, I had to agree to go to this stupid Halloween party, just to prove to my friends that I'm not afraid to walk there by myself in the dark tonight."
All day his schoolmates had been cajoling him. Making fun of the fact that he had to sleep with the light on at night as he was scared. He had stuck up for himself vigorously, because Sarah Jane, who he liked a lot, had been standing right behind them listening.

As he got closer he noticed a boy run inside. It looked like his friend Simon, but he couldn't be sure. So, he was probably at the right house, he had made it!
He eagerly approached the front door and rang the bell. As he stood there waiting to be let in he couldn't help noticing that the music had stopped. He lent closer to the door to hear, and it slowly creaked open, revealing nothing but darkness.
Johnnie pushed the door open fully and scanned the inside of the hallway with his eyes, but couldn't make out any shapes, or even a light coming from under a door.
Suddenly he heard giggling coming from way ahead of him, and he realised what was going on. His friends, not content with making him walk in the pouring rain on a dark Halloween night alone, had now set him up in-order to terrify him even more.
