How to discover your mission in life

How to discover your mission in life ~ One of the many things that I think about these days, is how my mission and purpose made itself known to me throughout the course of my life. As far back as 10 years old, I used to sing for weddings and small parties and gatherings. I spent a lot of time singing, enough for my father to hook up a small system in my room. I didn't have a voice that could belt out the songs like Mariah or Whitney, however was more along the lines of Karen Carpenter and Carole King. I sang my way into dinner theatre, with a boyfriend that had a band and spent time during my high school years, singing in the choir.

Although this seemed like a theme, there was something that remained a constant in my life; it was about constantly helping others on an emotional level. I was a natural when it came to understanding emotional pain. There were times when I was in the grocery store or the mall, people would literally come up to me and just start sharing stories about their personal life. At one point, my father told me I should just make up business cards, with my name on it, to offer my counseling services. I was 16 years old when he said this to me.

As a kid and into my teen years, I was the emotional caretaker and peacemaker in my house. Into my 20s, I continued to lend an ear and offer up them hugs, to others, when they were feeling their own turmoil.

It wouldn't be until I was 25, that I went into counseling, to begin clearing my childhood, with much needed information and awareness, to learn why I was so sensitive and to learn, most importantly, where my personal boundaries were. I always, always had a heads up about the pain someone was in, long before they had a chance to put it to words. It would be a few more years before I finally had a healthy understanding that I was awakening to life, according to my soul blueprint. This soul blueprint would be the purpose and the mission for my abilities and sensitivity, that actually was not the norm for everyday life. It would be through the most challenging times, that I would learn, discover and teach how to transform our challenges into levels of awareness and understanding...a heal as you go journey.

I have found, that when we are sensitive, open and aware in our life, if we look at specific patterns, that are the theme throughout the course and journey of our life, there will be themes that play off in the background, that carry over from one level of experience, to the next. When this happens, it is safe to say, that your purpose and mission to life are making themselves known to you. As specific themes, subtly play themselves into the background of your life, look at them. Feel them. See how they connect into your everyday life. What do you feel most drawn to? What makes you feel happy deep down inside, where life matters the most? Is there some form of creativity that is a constant in your life?

It's the little, quiet things that play off in the background of our busy schedules, that are offering a heads up to what we are most meant to be doing in our life.

So, if you find yourself, considering a job change or coming into alignment with your inner life, contemplate the constants in your life, that bring you inner peace and fulfillment. If we allow ourselves to get quiet and still enough, we will see how the patterns of our life, will connect us to the purpose and mission of our life.

Our purpose is always there, we just have to slow down and tune in; for the only place we will find it, is the inner realms of feeling.

Slow down, take a breath and tune into the blueprint of your soul. It is there, waiting for acknowledgement and recognition.
