"The valor in Her"
Have you ever known someone so Brave that the word BRAVE did not merit recognition?
Afterall, it is only a verbal thought, it has not earned stature, has not wept to bitter persecution, has not finished a course deemed impossible.
I am privileged to have witnessed the honest definition of Brave.
She is my sister, she is my friend, She is Brave.
Imagine receiving heart wrenching news, we all have some.
We all own a story.
In reality, what definition, what modification can any well meaning person offer that truly consoles?
Kindness, a warm embrace, well intentioned humor to temporarily mask the gushing wound.
Genuine gestures, yet so short from the relief our desperate stories cry out for.
To truthfully dignify the pains we each endure, is more than another can perceive.
It is about ownership, acknowledgement.
In the deepest ravines and crevices of our lives.
Humanity... we merit the word Brave.

Poetry: I am brave
I turned eight today
In this hospital bed
And I am alone
I hear Mommy
And she is crying
But I am alone
I squint my eyes
Trying

I am brave
Just like you my friend
Going through life
Sometimes
Under the sunshine
What I call
My brain is loving

"The valor in Her"
Have you ever known someone so Brave that the word BRAVE did not merit recognition?
Afterall, it is only
BRAVERY
Bravery is what springs to mind.
Anything, which has been undertaken
Raising against the odds to be set apart.
