Choosing the right area rugs to buy for your home can make a huge difference in the coziness and appeal of every room in your house. No matter what room in the house you choose to place area rugs, you want to select the perfect rug for the traffic area and decor.
It isn't necessary to spend a lot of money to buy area rugs; however, you can purchase hand-woven rugs which are very expensive. Most homeowners on a budget will want to locate affordable rugs for areas in the home which need a special touch. You'll find rugs in every size imaginable and in a rainbow of colors, a wide variety of textures, various pile types and wonderful patterns.
There is a vast difference between cheap area rugs and top-quality area rugs at low prices. A cheap rug will not last long and your investment will be lost. A quality rug, if cared for properly, will last for many years. You want to remain within your budget, yet buy the best quality area carpet you can afford.
Search for area floor coverings on sale at your home improvement store. You can also find great deals by shopping at stores which carry only floor coverings of all types. Another way to find low prices on quality area floor covering is to search and compare prices at the many internet merchants.
Look for a carpet which has strong, slip-resistant backing. This will help the area rug stay in place on your floor and prevent the rug from becoming a fall hazard. Cheap rugs often have backing which will allow the carpet to slide across a smooth floor covering - for example, marble tile or polished hardwood - and someone can be seriously injured as a result.
Choose the type of pile for your area floor covering which you prefer. Pile height can range from long, shag-style, to short smooth or looped surfaces. Look for pile which is thickly woven so that none of the rug's backing shows through when looking at the top of the rug.
Consider the area which the rug will cover. If it will be placed in a main traffic pathway through your home, you may want to select a rug which is washable. While many rugs can be washed, you can't put area rugs into your home laundry equipment because they are much to heavy when wet and can easily damage your washer. Either wash the rug outdoors using a garden hose and scrub brush, or go to a laundry where commercial equipment is available.
Larger area rugs cannot be washed easily, but cleaned with carpet steam cleaning equipment by a professional, or as a do-it-yourself job; it keeps your quality area rug looking great for years. Between cleanings, promptly blot up any spills and spot clean as needed.
Select a color which blends with your decor or select a contrasting color for visual impact. You may want an area rug with a textured pile pattern or one which is woven with multiple colors to provide a lovely pattern.
Whatever you desire in an area floor covering, remember to seek quality first. Balance quality with price
