Poetry: Faceless

by Jessica A. Tucker

Faceless forms graze the planet bare
Round the hours of a clock that never rests.
Ribbons of light tangle hopelessly along, One bulb teasing the next down this highway of never end.

Millions upon millions of faces, faceless they exist.
Everyday, dying in this fight to survive-
While, day by day, faces replicate and devour
More sustenance than we can find.

Faceless, we struggle wryly up this ladder of life
And faceless we fall short, to begin all over again.
Like a game of Snakes and Ladders,
Shamelessly we roll the dice again.
