Mindfulness and Divination
Divinatory methods dramatically improve mindfulness.
The various tools of divination through which many believe they can know the future owe their notoriety in occult studies to another purpose entirely.
While it is true that elements of future happenings may become apparent during a reading, tarot, crystals, runes, etc. actually close the door on those distractions that stand in the way of bringing one's complete attention to a particular problem. The distractions may be no more than the routine activities of life, but each detracts from the mind's concentration enough to prevent realization of a pathway to resolution.
Complete concentration on a single matter to the exclusion of anything else despite its importance directs the mechanisms of the mind to address one situation exclusively. The nature of the question does not matter; the mind holds within itself every potential concern involving the question. Once the mind is removed from the confines provided by every day living to the point where it can bring its entire arsenal to bear on one issue, the mind will find the correct path toward a satisfactory solution.
With the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, scientific method became the most important tool of discovery. Relying entirely on the rational mind, experimentation depended on arithmetic accuracy, and repeatability determined the usefulness of any discovery save those directly involved in improving the human condition such as medicine and sociology. Over time, these also fell under the same cloak, and the worth of any discovery became its ability to generate a product from which profit would result from its dissemination.
In all of this, the intuitive portion of the mind; that segment of awareness that defies quantification, lost any importance. Children suffered punishment and ridicule for pretending past a certain age and imagination took a subservient role to memory in the characterization of the human mind.
With that loss came the dogma of the working class, backed both by extant philosophy and organized religion, indicating that the key to paradise was to work hard for the benefit of one's betters, measured entirely by their monetary worth. Thinking, contemplation, and spirituality went the way of pretending and imagination, all of these deemed useless in a modern society.
Organized religion grew by destroying Man's personal connection to the Almighty. The industrial complex copied that growth by encouraging easy ignorance
