Why becoming a freelance writer might be a good career move

Freelancing is not for everybody, but it can be a great career move if the right ingredients are present. There are several factors that from the onset can spell "freelancing success".

The following are some of the things that could indicate that freelancing writing is a good career move.

1. Burgeoning industry

2. Love of Writing

3. Capable of Working Autonomously

4. Goal Oriented

Burgeoning Industry

Moving into any field that is experiencing a decline will make success that much harder to grasp, but nothing is impossible. Freelance writing though is still experiencing rapid growth and it seems like everyday there are more opportunities to make money from writing online. Advancements in technology make it even easier to source freelancers from the world over as the movement of payments and information gets more and more seamless.

Love of writing

When you have a passion for something it is always a good idea to try to make it your living. What could be better than getting paid to do something you would probably do for free? If you love writing then pursuing a career in freelance writing can feel like a dream come true.

Capable of Working Autonomously

Freelancers need to be able to set schedules and deliver work on time. The excess amount of freedom can be exhilarating but if you don't settle down and create a structure that works for you it could spell disaster in record time. If you are writing for a site that doesn't dictate your pace the only repercussion would be that of course, you would not make much income because the more you write the more you can earn. If however, you take on jobs that must be turned in by a certain time and you miss your deadlines you may find it hard to get additional work. You must guard you reputation for quality and efficiency closely as it will impact the jobs you are able to get.

Goal Oriented

Individuals that are focused and goal oriented tend to do well in freelance writing because freelancing requires you to set your targets. There is literally no ceiling on what you can make as a freelancer, so your goals are important because they act as a motivator as well as a measure of your success.

Notice that only one of these factors is external. This means that the most important part of the decision to make a career move into the realm of freelance writing is not what is happening in the industry, but rather if you have the stuff that will make your career work.
