Short stories: Loss of innocence

by Kathleen Sihock

Created on: October 12, 2009

Just a child of four and a child of two, what a horrible shame how your parents deceived you. From the day you were born, they used you like a door mat, they walked all over you, and they did not give a damn. Who else could you depend on, they were all that you had.

They started using drugs, it was an awful scene, then your Dad lost his job and they really became crazy. They got so desperate they could not pay their rent, so they started selling you two for sex with who ever they could.

They got kicked out of their house, and you two went to live with your Uncle and Aunt. It was only temporary until they got on their feet. Then a month went by, and you began to tell what was going on at your house.

Your Aunt and Uncle could not believe it, they took you to the police, who talked to us for hours. A social worker came down who was going to take you away. But, they said no way. So, she talked to them about being foster parents, and that is what happened. They had social workers, court workers, and others come to the house. People were always checking on your welfare, and they were happy with what they saw there.

Your parents got arrested, but not for long. They denied everything so they got let go. Your Aunt and Uncle they still fought for you all of the way, they loved you so much and wanted you to stay.

The courts offered adoption to the Uncle and the Aunt. They quickly accepted and said they would be happy to be their parents. So for two years ahead they went to court at least once a month. Fighting for your honor, and hoping to become Mom and Dad to you.

Then finally it happened the final adoption was here. Your parents lost all rights to you, and you became theirs. Your Aunt and Uncle now became Mom and Dad. Those awful people can never see you, or bring you any pain. You never have to see them ever again.

You started going to school, which was a place they would not let you go. You both did very well, and got academic excellence awards every year.

You both are thriving wonderfully, like normal little kids. Those bad days are behind you, that you will no longer have to live.

So be happy my little daughters, we are so happy to call you ours. Don't think of any bad thoughts, just remember those days are gone.
