Step-by-step instructions for creating a Helium zone

A Helium zone is a place where Helium writers can use a wide variety of content - text, images, videos and more - to showcase a topic of their choice. Zones are quite easy to build but for those who are not computer savvy, taking the first plunge remains a daunting task. Here are easy to follow, step by step instructions for creating your own Helium zone today.

FIRST THINGS FIRST:

Think of an interesting zone topic. The zone can be about your own poems that you have published on Helium, cars, computers, flowers, gardening, parenting or any of the millions of topics that are available on Helium. It is better to choose a topic that is interesting, informative and has long shelf value.

GET STARTED:

Once you have decided the zone topic, think of a catchy name to represent it. When you are ready to create your zone, go to zones homepage at www.helium.com/zones

1) Click on "build a zone today."

2) Click on "I have my own title for my zone."

3) Read the rules carefully and click "next."

4) Enter new zone name.

5) Select Blank template (first column)

6) Select "standard left menu."

7) Now enter the keywords. If you are making a zone based on your poetry, your keywords can be poems, poetry, creative writing, Helium, etc.

8) Your zone description is all about what your hopes, reason and expectations are about this zone. Use the keywords in your zone description so that it has a better chance of showing up in Google searches.

9) Select the relevant channel and sub channels.

10) Check and confirm.

11) Your zone base is ready.

FILL IT UP:

Now you can use the various blocks available to give shape, color and content to your zone. Whenever you press the edit button, you'll be able to see Insert New Zone Block.

This takes you to a page with lots of options.

If you wish to use articles from Helium, click on Helium Title (2nd in top row)

Put the title of required article and press search. Check options till you get the writer or the material that you were looking for.

If you want to use articles that have been written by you, then use "My Articles Only" option before pressing search.

You can also use the HTML block to put complete text and pictures within your zone.

EMBELLISH IT:

Every time, you wish to add content to your zone, use Insert New Zone block. Check out all other options that are available here. Give background colors and borders to make your zone visually appealing.
