IMPERFECTIONS
How many of us have heard the phrase, '"woe is me" or one of its many paraphrases, such as Lord, why has thou forsaken me; dang, can a girl ever get a break; what did I do that was so wrong where a 'break' always passes me by? Being this person is no fun at all. Perfection is a myth; it does not exist. All be it as it may, I am pretty close to it. However, I will never touch it; I will always be a grasp or a few steps away.
Should I seek perfection? No! It is impossibly hard to obtain and maintain, and it has to be extremely stressful. So there, I just simply don't want it. Ha! Did anyone expect to see that one coming? You know what else is so wrong with perfect? You will never have room to grow and expand. Nor will you ever have the opportunity to learn and relearn yourself, during any given situation. Perfection cannot be maintained with the way life throws stones at you. You must be adaptable and quick on your feet, so that you can bounce back easier. At least that is my motto. Perfection is always on the clock; adaptability and quick on your feet have time restraints and will not work with perfect.
Surviving is not always perfect, nor is living, but through your imperfection, you can live a life that is worthy of you. Maybe, a life that hopefully leaves you humbled, peaceful, and blessed. Happiness has a price; joy has a price; family has a price. What is your price, because nothing in this world is free, easy, or perfect?
The world I live in is not perfect. It is about as imperfect as it will ever get. So, how would you maintain a perfect life in a not so perfect world? I have no idea. I choose too live by a code. I do not know if it is a code of honor or ethic or simple respect; I just find it much easier to understand, and it is extremely not confusing. My code is maintaining a life that is free from lying, stealing, and cheating. If I can do that, I feel as if I have lived a good life. This has been my code for many, many years and it works for me. Well, at least, until temptation knocks at my door.
When temptation knocks and loudly, and it is something you want, there are things to consider: is it good for me, is it something I need, or is it just a simple want? In a perfect world you can have all your heart desires, right? However, in this imperfect world, it may not want you. So how do you handle that? Someone may think, 'oh, had I not said that, I can still have that' or 'oh, maybe I will be just a little bit dishonest, and hope for the best' or 'oh, if I just got a little bit of it, I am sure it is ok.' All of this just to obtain a piece of perfect? The bad thing about these 'ohs' is that it goes against my code. All three of these 'ohs' will position me to lie, steal, and cheat, and that can never be an option.
Imperfections are not so bad. Learning to accept imperfection will and always will be the hardest part of life. Jordan Sparks in her song Battlefield says to '...go and get your armor. I never meant to start a war, because I never meant to hurt you. Why does love always feel like a battlefield?' To be so young, she does have a point, and it sounds like she understands that life is not perfect and is full of imperfections.
