Breakfast burritos are popular menu items at both diners and fast food restaurants like McDonald's. And it's no wonder, as they are satisfying and delicious.
If you are a fan of the breakfast burrito, you may be surprised at how easy it is to make at home. Below are the steps for making a breakfast burrito when enjoying a lazy Saturday breakfast with your family. You can of course make as many as you want, but these instructions are for making one.
* Prepare the filling
Your first step will be to prepare the filling of your breakfast burrito. You can do a variety of things here, but one of the most common things is to use scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon and other items.
You will first want to heat up a non-stick skillet, and add a small amount of olive oil. Next, place one-quarter cup of egg substitute and one egg in a bowl. Use a fork to mix together, making sure the yolk of the egg is broken.
Add a dash of salt, pepper and Tabasco sauce. Next, pour into the heated skillet and start scrambling your eggs.
* Prepare your toppings
While the eggs are scrambling, you want to get your toppings ready. You can prepare a piece of bacon. It is recommended to use the already-cooked kind, in which you only have to heat it in the microwave for a few seconds.
When your bacon is cooked, blot with paper towels and cut into a few pieces. Also, put aside some shredded sharp Cheddar cheese. You will not need a lot of it, but measure to your liking.
You may want to dice a few green onions or tomatoes. These types of toppings add a great touch. And put a couple of tablespoons of salsa in a ramekin.
* Heat your tortilla
Finally get a medium-sized tortilla. Follow the instructions on the packing to heat it up. Make sure you do not overheat it, as it will become tough. Also do not heat until your eggs are fully scrambled and your other toppings are ready for adding to the burrito.
* Create your breakfast burrito
Now the fun part! Place your heated burrito on a dinner plate. Pour your scrambled eggs on top of it. Use a fork or knife to spread them out evenly.
Next, top the eggs with the cheese, bacon, green onions and tomatoes. Be careful not to let your toppings get too high, as it will make the burrito difficult to roll.
And that brings you to the actual final step. You will want to take one end of the tortilla and carefully roll it. You will then want to fold the corners. This part can be really tricky, and your burrito packaging may provide tips on rolling the burrito. You may want to insert a tooth pick or two to hold it in place.
Remember, though, that your breakfast burrito does not have to look perfect. The real secret is that it is going to taste delicious! Once you have completed rolling it, pour a bit of salsa over your breakfast burrito and enjoy.
