Tears aren't coming, though my heart is torn.
Torn apart for your sake.
Heartache, Heartache.
I want tears to fall; I want to cry a river.
I want to cry you a lake.
Heartache, Heartache.
A heartbroken bird I am, soaring over cottony clouds.
Searching for God, the one who put me through this.
Did He make me fall in love, only because He hates me?
Irony? It is. Paradox? It is.
I could fall in love, but why can't I fall to my death?
It's the only solace, as pain accompanies every breath.
How I wish to cry, but a bird can't fall to its death.
My strength is its wings that will keep us both afloat.
Maybe too many tears have already been shed.
So no tears can fall, I can't cry a river.
I can't cry you a lake.
Heartache, Heartache.
A lost fish I am, swimming in turbulent seas,
Looking for answers to the test of life.
God can only help me cheat, but he's taking the test.
Irony and paradox? They are rife.
I can drown in love, but why can't I drown in tears?
To get away from this world of betrayal and fear.
How I wish to cry, but a fish can't drown in the sea.
My strength is it gills that will keep us both from sinking.
Maybe too many tears have already been shed.
So no tears can fall, I can't cry a river,
I can't cry you a lake.
Heartache, Heartache.
A nomad I am, looking for fine grassland,
I really wanted you, but this pasture is all weeds.
Could something so right be so wrong?
Irony and paradox? The pasture has their seeds.
Lies, those fantasies were. A Lie was that awkward gaze.
That whole year, your heart had already been swept away.
Never thought such a folly I would make.
Heartache, Heartache.
No longer shall salty waters flood the brown soils of these eyes.
How I wish to cry, but an angel can never die.
My strength is his immortality that will keep us both alive.
Maybe too many tears have already been shed.
So no tears will fall, I will not cry a river,
I will not cry you a lake.
Heartache, Heartache.

These walls long to hear a baby's cry, and a child's laugh.
These floors long to feel bare little feet, running
In a morning's early hour, I am held needlessly awake

I can no longer
