Located in South Texas, tourism attractions in San Antonio are unique, culturally diverse and immensely interesting. With one of the fastest growing populations in the United States, San Antonio, Texas is home to nearly 2 million people in it's metropolitan area, including a number of military bases. Through the heart of the city runs the San Antonio River, and offers many enjoyable experiences on it's banks. Here are several tourism attractions in San Antonio Texas:

San Antonio Museum of Art - A wonderfully educational tourism attraction in San Antonio is the San Antonio Museum of Art. Splendid collections of Contemporary Art, American Art, Asian Art, Western Antiquities and European Art will hold the interest of the entire family. Current exhibits include German-American Folk Art and a photographic exhibition of chocolate. Guided and self-guided tours as well as group tours are available.

Sea World San Antonio - One of the most family friendly tourism attractions in San Antonio, Sea World offers something enjoyable for everyone. Exhibitions include Dolphin Cove, Alligator Alley, Flamingo Cove, Penguin Encounter, Clydesdale Hamlet, and Shamu's Happy Harbor. Entertaining rides named Steel Eel, The Great White, Shamu Express, Journey to Atlantis and Texas Splashdown will make the kids happy. Several dining opportunities are available, such as Castaway Caf, Seafire Grille, and Sweet Treats Bakery.

Alamo Mission - Easily the most famous tourism attraction in San Antonio, the Alamo was built in 1744 as a Roman Catholic Mission. Considered sacred ground by every Texan, it is the centerpiece of the battle for Texas independence.

Ripley's Believe It Or Not - As a tourism attraction, it doesn't get much better than Ripley's. Located in downtown San Antonio, this home of the strange and unusual offers themed galleries and over 500 exhibits, and is open 7 days weekly. San Antonio River Walk - If you like to people watch, the River Walk is the best tourism attraction in San Antonio. Tours of the river are available on dinner boat rides, and paddle boats, gondolas and canoes can be rented for personal adventure. There are a number of restaurants, shops and live entertainment opportunities adorning the river banks.

San Antonio Children's Museum - A family tourism attraction dedicated to good, clean fun, the exhibits include Tot Spot, Kids Market, Texas Treasure Cave, a Tooth Booth, and Extreme Virtual Adventures. The San Antonio Children's Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, closed on Mondays and major holidays. As well, for the sports enthusiast, the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA are the major sports tourism attraction in San Antonio.
