calm me
the sun so hot it roils through my veins,
molten.
the sand blows so brutally it stings my skin,
abrasive.
the snow is deep and wet and chills my bones,
frigid.
the water drenches my clothes and pulls at me,
drowning.
calm me
synapse bang and clang like
cymbals in the band.
nerve endings tense and electric, zap and buzz
like power lines
downed in the seasonal storm.
every sound is amplified and I careen
like the whirl wind, the tumble weed, or the single drop of water
rushing from the torrent of the falls.
calm me
take the sun
take the sand
take the snow
keep me from drowning.
quiet the sound
tame the wind
and catch the water
as it falls into your hand.
calm me.
calm me.
