What is wrong with this world?

It could be said that somewhere along the path people started losing their way. It would be difficult to pinpoint exactly when this started to happen. When one looks back through the pages of history, and if it were to be believed, there is a great deal of evidence available to show just how lost humanity has been and for how long. That humanity continues to exist must mean that something in this world is right. Clearly many think there is much wrong and complain loud and long. Though one never hears about them, there are probably a great many more people who live in this world and never complain about anything.

It is clear from the books, newspapers, television docu-dramas, movies and the pulpits all around the world that there is plenty to complain about. Is there a nation anywhere in the world where some faction of the population does not complain about its government? Look at some of the most profound religions that have splintered and deviated so far from the original as to be unrecognizable. Religion on its own has been the justification and baseline for so many deaths down through the centuries as to beg the question: Why would any sane person believe in an organization that is responsible for the death of multitudes? Yet history repeats itself over and over and if it is not one religion then it is another and many thousands of people die every year. Despite this, humanity survives and in some areas of the world thrives.

For that matter, let us look at the world we live on - literally. The fact that the planet continues to produce resources, spin on its axis and does the best job it is able to clean up the toxic waste humans spew all over its surface is testament that something in the world is still okay. Humans consume and alternately waste the resources of the planet and still the planet provides. There is a very small population of folks who are anxious about the planet, the resources and non-renewable energy sources; they work their minds and fingers as fast as they can, trying to warn the rest of humanity that some things on this planet really are finite . It is difficult to say which is their greatest enemy: Greed or ignorance. One can still find open vast places where nature has been preserved either by government sanction or simply out of spite. Even in the biggest metropolitan areas around the world one can find wonderful spots of beauty that are nature - be it natural and untended or carefully planned, gardened and preserved. Nature will take
