Jack LaLanne and his wife advertise this juicer as THE juicer to buy. It is true that vitamins and minerals are essential to our good health and vitality, and Jack is an excellent advert for why we should all eat fruit and veg, and plenty of it, or drink its juice. This does not explain, however, why we should by this particular juicer! There are dozens of good juicers on the market and many of them are much cheaper than this one, yet work just as well or maybe better. When I saw how much this juicer cost I nearly fell off my chair! It is EXPENSIVE with a capital E. I considered buying it and looked at all of the alternatives, then settled for one which is just as good but far far cheaper. Why is this one so much more expensive than its rivals which are just as good or better? Because the manufacturers are paying an arm and a leg to Jack and his wife to extol the virtues of it. The cheaper juicers rely on the fact that whoever buys it buys it because they want to juice, which is the way it should be.

There are lots of reasons why buying a juicer is a good idea. Health is very important to us. But we do not have to invest huge sums of money to be healthy. We could eat raw vegetables rather than juice, and we can buy much cheaper juicers if we choose to juice.

Jack LaLanne is an old man of 95 now. He was a hero of anyone who is into keep fit and body building. But do not be misled into thinking he needed THIS juicer to achieve all of this. If he needed a juicer at all he needed any juicer that was capable of pulping the fruit and vegetables he put into it. ANY JUICER. Technology is so well advanced now that there is virtually no such thing as a bad juicer.

So when buying another juicer ask yourself, do you want to pay a huge price and know that some of it goes to Jack LaLanne, who is already a very rich man, and will not be needing money for much longer anyway if he is 95? Or would you prefer to buy a juicer that does what it claims to do, without wrapping it up in flowery terms so that they can charge more for it? I know which one I prefer.
